The Art Of Non-Conformity

Silly me realized yesterday that I had borrowed a few audio books from the library and completely FORGOT about them! No wonder I was feeling like I had nothing to listen to and learn. 🙁

I decided that The Art of Non-Conformity appealed to me the most, so I started listening to it the last 15 minutes of my work day. I then continued to listen to it for my entire commute home.

I certainly have never been one to conform to everyone else’s thoughts. I’ve always tended to do my own thing, even if those around me question it.

When I first learned how to play Tetris, my dad would stand behind me and ask why I didn’t put the pieces where he thought they should go. He quickly realized I was kicking butt in the game and maybe I did know what I was doing, even if it was not what he would have done.

In college, when I decided to meet a guy I had met in a chat room, my friends were HORRIFIED that I would do such a thing! 16 1/2 years later and we just celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary.

No, I absolutely do not conform! It’s MY life and these are MY choices. I am far better off for them than if I had just bowed down and conformed to what everyone else thought I should do.

The quote above really struck me as I was listening. The author mentioned that a friend of his said this. It’s perfect!!! So simple and to the point. I have to think on that one for a bit. 🙂
