Music Monday: Meat Loaf – Stand In The Storm

I have decided to bring back my Music Monday posts for a couple of reasons. One, I’m trying to get myself set up on a regular blogging schedule and having content to write about will really help with that. Two, I love music and I love sharing songs I like with others! Perhaps there’s something you haven’t heard before that you might like?

Meat Loaf has been a favorite of mine ever since the first time I heard Paradise By The Dashboard Light. Oddly enough – that has to be my LEAST favorite Meat Loaf song ever. Yuck. That song opened my eyes to this wonderful talent and was quickly shoved aside when I heard what he really could do! One of these days I’ll draft up a blog post about my favorite song EVER. Yes, I really can narrow down one song I love more than any other song on the face of this planet. I’ll give you a hint: it’s a Meat Loaf song. Not this song and not one I’ve shared before. After my VERY favorite song, all my other favorite songs fall into position number 2 on my list. Seriously… I can’t rank songs past number ONE.

A couple months ago we had the opportunity to go see Meat Loaf perform live at a venue nearby. We saw him several years ago in Boston, but the acoustics at that venue SUCKED. I had always said I wanted to see him again and I felt like it needed to be sooner rather than later. Meat Loaf isn’t getting any younger and his health certainly isn’t improving. He sure can still SING though! His voice wavered a couple times during the show, but for the most part he sounded absolutely wonderful. We were not at all disappointed and boy was it a rocking show! The audience was on their feet the entire time.

This song is off of Hell In A Handbasket and is very different from anything I have ever heard Meat Loaf sing before. It features artists from several genres of music that you would not expect would sound good together. They DO sound good together though! Absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend you check this song out, if only to hear something unlike anything you’ve heard before. If you like Meat Loaf at all, you won’t be disappointed. 🙂
